Zelda Williams is struggling to return to a happy life after Dad27 Feb 2015
Robin Williams’ family has been left devastated by his death, but now for the first time, his daughter Zelda Williams is speaking out about her beloved father.
On Thursday, Feb. 26, during an interview with Kate Snow for the Today Show, Zelda revealed that it’s still going to take time before she will be able to lead a happy life.
“It’s going to take a lot of work to allow myself to have the sort of fun, happy life that I had, but that’s important. Anybody who has ever lost anyone works very hard to continue that memory in a positive way,” she explained.
Zelda, who is Williams’ daughter with his second wife, Marsha Garces, also commented on the love that the world showed her dad, saying, “They knew a dad that he was proud of them knowing, because he was an incredibly kind and incredibly caring man. And he was also very private and very calm and very subdued, and so the side of him that people know and love and that is attached to their childhood is the characters that he had so much fun being. And that’s what’s important. And I do think that’s what a lot of people will hold on to. That’s not going anywhere.”
After her dad’s passing, Zelda paid tribute to him with a hummingbird tattoo, an animal that reminds her of him and the handiwork of popular Hollywood tattoo artist Dr. Woo.
“Hummingbirds are fun and flighty and strange. It’s hard to keep them in one place and Dad was a bit like that. Keeping a conversation in one moment was impossible with him,” she explained of her ink.
The Mrs. Doubtfire actor tried hard to do good in the world, and his daughter is determined to continue with his charity work, with plans to start a Robin Williams fund. For more, watch the interview below.
